Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Transportation Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Work as a key member of a roadway schematic team for moderate to large projects and work independently on smaller projects
  • Prepare and document a range of conceptual transportation alternatives, considering factors like mobility, engineering feasibility, environmental implications, and economic considerations.
  • Prepare or oversee roadway schematic work using local or AASHTO standards: horizontal and vertical alignment, roadway sections, intersections, multi-level interchanges, preliminary drainage analysis, determine right-of-way, and develop 3D corridor models.
  • Assist in the management of larger projects or manage smaller projects.
  • Assist preparing proposals, scopes, budgets and schedules.
  • Manage the following work elements: day-to-day communication (verbal and written) with the client, support, advise, and train junior engineers and technical staff, write reports and technical memos, coordinate with subconsultants, keep project on schedule and within budget, and keep client satisfied.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas
  • Previous design experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, OpenRoads, or other design software as appropriate
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years design experience
  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized.
  • OpenRoads 3D corridor modeling project experience
  • Experience designing urban arterials, rural highways, intersections, freeways, and/or multi-level interchanges.
  • TxDOT Schematic and/or PS&E project experience
  • TxDOT Precertifications
