Job Description
 

METI is seeking two Accounting Specialists to assist us with our United States Forest Service International Programs contract in El Paso, Texas. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial well-being of our organization while fostering professional growth and development. As an Accounting Specialist for METI, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our program budgets, ensuring accuracy, and supporting our contract with the USFS. This position is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, have a passion for numbers, and are eager to grow in their accounting and program budget analysis careers.

 
Duties:

  • Financial Record Keeping: Maintain and update accurate budget records, ensuring that all transactions are properly recorded and organized.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices and track payments. Manage the setup of new contracts or task orders.
  • Expense Tracking: Monitor and categorize project expenses to maintain an accurate overview of financial outflows and budget adherence.
  • System Usage: Utilize Excel and other tools for data entry, processing, and reporting.
  • Audit Support: Prepare financial documents and provide support during internal and external audits, ensuring that audit requirements are met.
  • Problem Solving: Identify discrepancies, irregularities, and inefficiencies in financial processes and collaborate with the team to propose and implement solutions.

Qualifications:

  • 1-4 years of relevant bookkeeping or accounting experience.
  • Associates degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, preferred not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record keeping.
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles, a plus.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong experience with Excel is required.
